The Mayor's Thames Festival
14 & 15 September 2002
We had a brilliant two days on the Southbank as
part of the annual Mayor's Thames Festival. This
year was with thousands of people joining in the
festivities. Saturday was foreshore day, with
river dipping, seine netting by the EA and archaeology.
The Thames Explorer staff was visited by hundreds
of people interested in the Thames, it's history
and wildlife. Sunday had more fun in store and
was capped off by a brilliant firework display-the
perfect end to a great weekend. We're already
looking forward to next year's festival!

Along with Thames21, the Environment Agency and

visitors found artefacts dating back to Roman
times and wildlife that is thriving today.
