Introduction

What better way to spend a school day than down by the river?

Every year, thousands of school children investigate the river with Thames Explorer.

Through a variety of programmes, your class can join in the river fun too!

Walk a riverside trail to record evidence of the growth of London and the impact of settlement on the river.

Explore the foreshore - an excellent area for studying the river at close quarters and for recording evidence of river geography, ecology and environmental change.

Discover the city's past. The foreshore is also one of the most accessible archaeological sites in London

Whatever you do, we hope that everyone who visits us takes away a little bit of the Thames magic!

School Surveys and Findings

WORK WITH A SENSE OF PURPOSE!
As part of the river work, your class can record biodiversity data for The Thames - River for Life. This project hopes to help ensure a sustainable future for the Thames by involving schools and local communities in simple survey work which is then posted here on our web site. The project is linked to the curriculum via Science and Geography, and helps develop ICT and Citizenship skills.
