Session 1
Pupils learn techniques such as sketching, using water colour, colour mixing, using a fine brush and using a colour chart. They also discover how artists of the Thames have used water colour and sketching. This is followed by a sketching walk along the riverside, stopping along the way at points of interest to make sketches of the river.
Session 2
Outdoors, pupils learn how to observe and frame a suitable image, quickly mix the colours and paint the image before it changes or fades. Back in the classroom, pupils work up and mount their pictures to take back to school as a record of their day.
