GREEN HOUSEKEEPING POLICY
It is the policy of the Thames Explorer Trust
to act as a responsible steward of the environment.
This stewardship will be based on the principles
of sustainable development. Protection of the
environment is a primary consideration in all
Trust activities and this stewardship ethos is
integrated into the planning and execution of
all work.
The Trust will:
- consider the impacts of its activities on
the environment
- work together with partners to carry out this
policy
- adopt cost effective practices that eliminate
or minimise negative environmental impacts
- manage programmes and projects in a way that
prevents pollution and is protective of the
environment
- define, prioritise and mitigate existing environmental
problems
- anticipate and address potential future environmental
problems before they pose a threat
- review this policy annually
All Trust employees will be informed of this
policy and asked to:
- ensure Trust activities are carried out in
an environmentally sound manner that limits
risks to the environment
- integrate environmental considerations into
their daily work
- comply with applicable regulations that address
the natural, archaeological, cultural, historical,
educational and social environment
- carry out their work in a cost effective manner
consistent with this policy and in compliance
with regulatory and legal requirements
- integrate pollution prevention, resource conservation,
waste minimisation and environmental impact
considerations into all planning, decision making
and work conducted
- look for opportunities to improve environmental
standards
- report promptly environmental incidents and
deficiencies that they observe; and
- use non toxic materials and alter practices
to minimise the use of and release of hazardous
materials into the environment.
On a daily basis everyone should consider
the following six areas:
